As-Salaam-Alaikum

We are so happy to see you here.

Who are we?

Ad’iyah calls itself a Muslim Abortion Collective because that’s what it is.

A collective that hopes to become a community of Muslims who have had experiences of pregnancy endings.

We meet once a month to listen, support and make dua for each other. Those who want to share abortion stories can, but there is also space to just listen and be held by a community with shared experiences.

Any and all Muslims are welcome and cherished in our spaces.

What do we believe?

We believe abortion should be free, legal accessible, supported, empowered, embodied and cherished.

We believe that Allah (swt) loves us all in abundance and that we should be able to draw on Islam before, during and after our abortions, as we draw on Islam in all aspects of our life.

What’s in a name?

As Muslims:

  • We make dua for ourselves and for others.

  • We make dua in times of hardship, joy and neutrality.

  • We make dua for things we do not always understand intimately.

  • We make dua for friends and family who are experiencing things we do and do not know.

  • We make dua as an act of kindness, compassion and love.

At Ad’iyah, this is what we believe abortion care should be like too.

The plurality of our name also reflects how abortion care and support should have no end. There is no one point where you stop needing dua. You can revisit and take what you need from this space, regardless of when your abortion or abortions were, and no matter what your feelings towards them.
